https://journal.univawalbros.ac.id/index.php/jpk/article/view/349

Providing breastcare education to pregnant women allows mothers to obtain information about preparing for lactation and increase knowledge and change mothers' behavior regarding breastcare during pregnancy. Knowledge in a person is obtained from the results of knowledge that occurs after the process of sensing an object in humans. Meanwhile, behavior is part of human activity and is part of the human function involved in an action. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of providing breastcare education on the level of knowledge of pregnant women in preparation for exclusive breastfeeding at the Beringin Tiga Community Health Center, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province.

This type of research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research design and a pre-test post-test approach with control design. This study aims to determine whether there are differences in pregnant women's knowledge regarding their readiness to provide exclusive breastfeeding before and after providing breastcare education.

The research results show that the average knowledge score of pregnant women from the group that was given breastcare education was higher, namely 43.25, compared to the average knowledge score in the group that was not given breastcare education, namely 33.50. The significance value obtained was 0.012 (p<0.05) which shows that there is an influence of breastcare education on pregnant women in preparation for exclusive breastfeeding, so breastcare education is effective in increasing mothers' knowledge.

Researchers suggest that the Beringin Tiga Community Health Center can improve the provision of KIE (communication, information and education) and implement Breastcare education for pregnant women to increase pregnant women's knowledge in preparing for exclusive breastfeeding.
SuparniTaufianie Rossita Yatri Hilinti
