Abstract

Urinary tract stones are a condition in which there is a hard mass in the form of crystal stones along the urinary tract so that it can cause pain, bleeding and infection. CT Scan Urography is an examination performed to detect urinary tract stone disease. Before performing a CT Scan Urography, there are several patient preparations that need to be done, namely fasting for 2-3 hours and drinking 750-1000 ml of mineral water (Knauth, 2014). Patient preparation for CT Scan Urography examination conducted at Awal Bros Panam Hospital, namely adding 3 cups of plain tea (900 ml). The purpose of this study was to determine the examination procedure and the results of CT Scan Urography using plain tea as a negative contrast medium at Awal Bros Panam Hospital. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach through field observations, interviews and documentation. The results of the CT Scan Urography examination at the Radiology Installation of Awal Bros Panam Hospital that patient preparations that need to be done are fasting for about 4 – 6 hours, drinking 1 cup of mineral water (220 ml), 3 cups of concentrated tea (900 ml) and holding back urination. The addition of plain tea is due to the vasoconstriction properties of blood vessels and the content of caffeine which will accelerate the diuresis processThe results of the picture are expected after adding plain tea to the ureteral canal to make it more hypodense so that the picture of the ureter is more visible.
