Abstract

Reinforcing screen or Intensifying screen (IS) is a veil / layer which when exposed to X-ray exposure will experience light luminescence. This Reinforcing Screen has a function to convert invisible X-Rays into visible rays. There are several types of Strengthening Screens, including: Fast Screen, Medium Screen (Par Screen) and Slow Screen. But now, there is a new type of Reinforcing Veil, the rare earth screen. One of the efforts to find out the damage of the Reinforcement Screen is by conducting a Radiographic Film Reinforcement Contact Test. According to KMK No. 1250 Year 2009, the frequency of contact test for this reinforcing film screen is carried out every year, after every physical repair of X-ray cassettes or when needed. This test was carried out because at the time of the survey at Petala Bumi Hospital, Riau Province, the author found that the last reinforcement was tested approximately 3 years ago.

The type of research that will be used is quantitative research with a research design that is conducting tests or experiments.

The results showed that there was damage to the film-reinforcing curtain contact at the Radiology Installation of Petala Bumi Hospital. Because the density on the radiographic film exceeds the tolerance limit that has been set, the density is 1-2.

The research data on the 24x30 film sample showed that each quadrant had a density value that exceeded 2. And the research data on the 30x40 film sample also found that each quadrant had a density value that exceeded 2. Radiology of Petala Bumi Hospital, the author should suggest that the reinforcing screen be repaired or replaced with the installation method. Because at the time of exposure, there are a few edges of the film that are not exposed.
