Abstract

The Community Service Activity (PKM) located in Tanaberu Village, Bontobahari District is motivated by the low health literacy of coastal communities regarding the use of radiology technology for early detection of diseases and the existence of negative stigma related to radiation hazards. The main goal of this program is to transform the public health paradigm through the educational campaign "Don't Wait for Pain: The Secret of a Healthy Life with Early Detection Through Radiology Technology" with a specific target of increasing understanding of the urgency of early detection, introducing various radiology modalities such as X-rays, ultrasound, and mammography, as well as reducing myths about radiation safety. In addition, this activity is targeted to be able to provide practical guidance for residents in accessing health screening independently or through formal health facilities. The method used in achieving this goal is Integrated Public Health Education which involves 57 participants through three systematic stages. The first stage begins with an initial evaluation (pre-test) to map the level of basic knowledge of residents, followed by an interactive education stage using the technique of simplifying medical terms and the use of visual aids to facilitate technical understanding. The last stage was closed with a final evaluation (post-test) and satisfaction monitoring to measure the effectiveness of the method through statistical analysis  of the N-Gain Score. As a result, this activity plan has proven to be effective in significantly increasing public knowledge from a score of 42.4 to 86.2 with a satisfaction rate of 94.47%, which is also a strong foundation for the sustainability of the program in the future.
